Happy ‘But Her Emails’ Day!
Today's political news cycle has decided to return to an old standby: Hillary's emails. The Inspector General will release the results of an 18-month investigation into James Comey's handling of that affair. Though Donald Trump is sure to weaponize those findings in order to justify firing James Comey, the actual investigation will conclude that Comey mishandled the whole shebang, which "negatively impacted the perception of the FBI and the department as fair administrators of justice," according to Bloomberg.
Even though Comey was not "motivated by political bias," the way in which James Comey mishandled the investigation served only to hurt Hillary Clinton's campaign while unwittingly helping Donald Trump.
Donald Trump won, in part, because of James Comey, but Donald Trump is going to use this report to shit all over James Comey anyway for creating the illusion of political bias even though the reality of why Donald Trump actually fired James Comey was because he refused to express political bias in favor of Trump, aka, he would not pledge his loyalty to Trump and publicly announce that Donald Trump was not under investigation.
In other words, it doesn't matter how James Comey fucked up -- or that it helped Trump -- it only matters that he fucked up, and Trump will argue that the fuck-up was not only a pretext for firing Comey, but that it should serve as a pretext for firing Bob Mueller because the Russian probe was prompted by Trump's decision to fire Comey, even though the reality is that Trump fired Comey -- as he told NBC, and as he told two Russian diplomats -- because of the Russia investigation.
But ultimately, the important thing is, after three years -- even though Trump uses an unsecured phone to tweet, and even though several people in the White House have used private servers -- we're going to talk about Hillary's emails again. Happy But Her Emails Day!
