Celebrity Makeup Artist Joey Maalouf Shares the 5 Products He “Eats Alive”
Sitting in a makeup chair can be a stressful experience, but not if you’re at the hands of Joey Maalouf. The celebrity makeup (and hair!) artist and co-founder of The Glam App has a personality as radiant as his highlight and a presence as dynamic as his contour. (He once told Elle that he answers the phone, “Hi, Gorge!” regardless of whether or not he knows who’s calling.) But even if you haven’t seen his fun-loving spirit embodied, you’ve likely seen his makeup mastery on the likes of Rachel Zoe, Molly Sims, Kendall Jenner, and our own Hillary Kerr—the type of work that’s so good, you scroll through his Instagram page until you get to the very bottom… which I did… last night.
Lucky for you all (trust us), today you’re about to experience his charm and beauty secrets in our video series, Just Five Things. Maalouf is sharing the bronzer he “eats alive,” a face mist that will wake your right up, other and other staple products he’s “obsessed” with. Watch for yourself below.
It’s no wonder Maalouf like to let this balm soak into his clients’ lips for as long as possible while they’re in his chair. It’s a blend of oils (hazelnut, plum and sunflower) and butters (shea and kokum) that so deeply restore, repair, and protect the lips for the most supple canvas pre-lipstick.
Maalouf raves about this “perfect sun-kissed bronzer” that isn’t too orange or too ruddy and how major it is on just about every skin tone. He’s convinced us to buy it, what about you?
Prepare yourself for intense pigment with Mother’s mix of sparkly and matte vibrant shades. Since her products tend to sell out so fast, at least you’ll know this palette will last you much longer than a typical compact—just a tap of your brush yields enough for your entire lid.
Even though this makeup-remover is oil-based, Maalouf says it leaves a clean finish and doesn’t disrupt the makeup you apply on top.
Maalouf certainly isn’t light-handed with this awakening mist. It’s made with artemia salina, a high-energy source to awaken dormant cells and boost cellular metabolism for both pre- and post-makeup application.
